Artist Statement /CV

Shori Sims is a multidisciplinary artist whose work navigates the blurred thresholds between subject, object, the spirit, and the body.

Through installation and time-based performance, Shori explores the nature of image production, alienation, and the possibilities of Black selfhood in the 21st century. Grounded in their lived experience, Shori’s practice uses the ephemeral and the domestic to trouble the line between public display and private ritual. Shori has exhibited work across galleries, academic, and community spaces, including in Brooklyn, London, and Toronto. Shori is also a dedicated educator, bringing a critically engaged, care-centered approach to their teaching practice.
